If you knew where I live and how urbanized the area is, you wouldn’t believe I took these photos in my backyard. Let’s just say I live in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Not a small city. You can see the rest of the of the photos I took here. More below.
He was instantly aware of my presence when I came into view to take the pictures, but he didn’t fly away. I later found out why, his dinner was just on the other side of my fence. He sat on the fence for about 10+ minutes, jumping down twice and securing his dinner on the second try. He flew to a tree just across the street and ate for about 15 minutes, then sat in the same spot for at least an hour, presumably letting his dinner settle.
