Do you love thunderstorms?
I love thunderstorms, but between wreaking havoc at work and on my golf addiction, they don’t love me. Thunderstorms are an unusual blend of beauty and ugliness, which is why they are so intriguing. This past Wednesday, July 2nd, I witnessed some of the more severe storms I can remember. I was able to watch the front roll in, the wind pick up, the temperature drop, the dark take over, the sheets of rain and hail pummel everything- it was like someone flipped a switch and the weather changed. Next thing you know, the whole area is without power, work is flooding in areas, and my 4 day weekend is now a 3 day weekend. I wish I had my camera with me, I bring it with me most places, but forgot to grab it on my way out the door that morning (thanks to J-a-x for the use of his photo). We didn’t get power back at home until sometime late Thursday, about 24 hours, not bad considering I know some people had it much worse. These storms were the start of a very busy holiday weekend, which didn’t leave me any time to blog or play holdem. What are your thoughts on storms? Love ‘em, hate ‘em, somewhere in between?

I absolutely love thunderstorms. Always have, ever since I was a kid….Some of the more severe ones can be frightening though. There’s nothing like a massive front and storm coming in to Michigan over from Lake Michigan….Sitting out on the beach in Charlevoix and watching them roll in is just captivating.
Cheers!

I have to agree, I’ve seen a sweet storm or two roll in over the lake while in Grand Haven, there is nothing like it.

I live in Greensburg, Kansas, which was wipe off the map last year by an EF-5 tornado. Around here, T-storms always have the potential of tornadoes. I used to like storms… Now? Not so much…

Anita- I can see how that would change how you look at storms. Hope you and yours were all safe.

Here in the south there are some pretty amazing storms. I find them incredibly beautiful but terrifying at the same time… As long as they don’t spawn any tornadoes, I am fine… We have had some pretty close calls here with tornadoes.

Ralph- We don’t get much for tornadoes around here, I’m sure if we did I’d have a different point of view.
Thanks for stopping by!

I come from Arizona, and every year when the monsoon passes through, we get beautiful thunderstorms. Unfortunately it rains a lot too, so it’s rough if you have to go to work (or come home) during stormy time. Monsoon is interesting though, because the storms it brings are usually short, so it will be very sunny, thunder and pour rain for an hour, and then the sun will come out again. Its odd. . .

Teresa- Sounds a little like Puerto Rico. It could storm everyday there, but they never last long.
Atniz- 2 of my 3 dogs hate storms, as soon as they hear the thunder, they instantly go into whine mode.

as I live in what is considered the Thunderstorm Capitol of the world, I have a healthy respect for thunder and lightening. (I do Love the Tampa Bay Lightening!) Still, it is cool to be inside during a storm with a good book.

What is the saying? It’s always funny until someone gets hurt - and then it’s just hilarious. Now wait, that is from a Faith No More song.
