Playing holdem in the morning. A new strategy?

They play poker at night (by wili_hybrid)

I basically never play holdem in the morning, I may have to change that though. The only time I played this weekend was Sunday morning, and in 15 minutes I had won over $10 at $0.02/$0.05 NL holdem. I don’t really think it had anything to do with the time of the day. It was more likely just a coincidence that I ran into some really terrible players. If the same thing happens next time I play in the morning, then maybe there is some strategy here. The worst part about playing in the morning though is I’m not ready to start drinking beer yet.

Update:
Current Bankroll: $159.82 | Goal before moving up: $200.00 | Started with: $2.00

I remember from when I used to play all the time the morning time was a great period to make some money. It seemed like the “best” competition was in the evening time. Morning and super early (2-3am) were the easiest times to win.

Hi Paul- So maybe there is something to playing in the morning. This was like 10:00am Sunday morning, and they were terrible, like it was the last of their bankrolls and they just wanted to get rid of it. Evenings on the other hand, usually are a serious grind.

yea, after a while I just stopped playing in the night time, it wasn’t worth the time for the back and forth profit. the other times were always a little more steady

Pauls last blog post..Man down in Cleveland

For me, I don’t think playing in the morning on a regular basis would work logistically. If I made a living at holdem then I could see it.
