I got hammered at the holdem tables last night.

Well I had one of my worst nights in a very long time on Pokerstars last night. I lost just over $8.00 and that was mainly from losing my stack on one hand (lost about $6.00 on that one hand). I had one of those moments, when I saw that third diamond come on the river, when I thought “he might have just hit that flush he spent $4.00 chasing”. Against all logic, I talk myself into the fact that he didn’t really just spend $4.00 calling me all the way down hoping for a diamond the whole time, and I call his all-in bet. He shows A-6 of diamonds and I realize I just called even though I was almost certain he had the flush. I had pocket Kings and the best hand until that the diamond on the river. I was only slightly surprised that he called preflop, even less surprised that once he saw two diamonds on the flop nothing would chase him away. I probably wouldn’t have spent 2/3 of my stack chasing a draw, but I know a lot of players do, so I should have known he hit his flush (oh wait, I did think that).
There is nobody to blame but myself though, I knew from the start I wasn’t all that focused, and it showed. The main reason I don’t play that often is because I only like to play when I have a lot of enthusiasm for it and a good block of time in front of me in case I need to ride out some variance. I didn’t have either. So the bankroll is down to $161. No big thing really, I’m chalking it off to as just a stupid night, an aberration.
