Metallica is alive again with Death Magnetic.

Metallica’s Death Magnetic is available today.  I’m planning on buying it at lunch, as long as it isn’t sold out or something.  I’ve heard 6 of the songs and it has a lot of the old Metallica sound to it (you can hear the entire album on their website).  I have a feeling this could be their best selling album ever.  If you didn’t like St. Anger like the majority didn’t, you still need to give Death Magnetic a chance because it is nothing like St. Anger.  Have you heard any of the new songs and what did you think of them?  Will you be buying Death Magnetic?

On a side note, I did play some Hold Em on pokerstars last night (first time in a week) and I broke about even.  So just some more of the same.  I might play again tonight.  I might be playing in a juicy .25/.50 no limit home game Saturday night.

Metallica, Garage Days (by massdistraction)

We're a long ways from the Garage Days.

I think …And Justice For All is my favorite, but I really loved Master of Puppets too. So many people hated on the “Black” album but I thought it was solid.

Welcome back Metallica! I have heard some of their new songs on the official site and thanks God they know how to do it again :)

BTW, Master of Puppets is my all time favorite album.

Death Magnetic is definitely more like the old Metallica. I can’t wait to get through it a few times and then see what I think of it.

Yeah, after listening to this, it’s like they started from after justice and wrote this one. I like how it’s got solos and a 10 min. instrumental too.

So far I am impressed. I cringed at the beginning of The Unforgiven III when I heard a piano, violins, and maybe even some trumpets or tubas? I ended up liking the song though.

I’m a sucker for song trilogies and Metallica knows it. Unforgiven all the way.

Well I like it so much I wore it out. I had to take it out of my car and avoid listening to it for a while so it’s still fresh from time to time. I’ve been listening to And Justice For All and Master of Puppets more lately. Wow, I’m jealous you’re seeing them live! Good for you!

I tried listening to it, but the production quality is worse than any album I’ve heard since they invented CD’s. Shame too - it’s really really good.

I heard that there are copies floating around that use the masters from the Rock Band video game.. I haven’t been able to track them down, but once I do I will happily enjoy the album (having already wasted $10 on buying it)

Maybe I’m too much of a fan, but I haven’t once thought the production quality was all that bad. Certainly not the best, but no where near the worst ever. St. Anger was bad in my opinion, in more ways than just production quality, but I think Death Magnetic is solid all around.
