The downs and ups of no limit Hold ‘em.

My last two sessions (Friday night and Saturday morning) are a perfect example of how the ups and downs of no limit hold ‘em can drive a person crazy.  On Friday I played for 3 hours, which is a very long session for me, and quit at about 1:40am Saturday morning down $20.  For most that might not seem like much, but my bankroll has been hovering around $200, so that is 10% of my bankroll.  Saturday morning I played for only 15 minutes, and won 3/4 ($15) of that back.  The first hand I played I was dealt J-J and flopped a set.  I ended up all-in and winning the hand.  15 minutes later I finished off the same player and called it good.  I ended the week up about $9 bringing the bankroll to $204.29.  My goal is to make it to a minimum $225 (probably $250) and then move up to $10NL.

The hold 'em road doesn't always look good, might as well be patient.

I hope you are able to make the move t $10NL. If you do make the move, I definitely wish you good luck at that limit.

Hi Trevor, so much of hold ‘em is mental, no dispute there.

Jeremy, thanks! I’m confident I’ll be making the move, just a matter of time. Then the next true test begins.
